All Done!

I took Jack to the University with me today and dropped off my final assignment!! It is so exciting and relaxing to be finally done. Now I have a month off till school starts again. Tomorrow night I'm thinking of going to a movie as a treat for finishing. Any good movies playing? I have not been in so long!

Tonight we are decorating the tree!! I'm so excited. Mark's parents are coming over and I've got some munchies, and of course bottle of red wine.  Mark and I have a little tradition of having a glass of wine when we decorate the tree. We've done it ever year since we've been together (except when I was pregnant). I really enjoy a nice glass of red wine, and if anyone is wondering what to get me for Christmas a bottle of wine is perfect ;)

So it's time to crank up the Christmas music and get the place looking more festive. Even though we are very tight for money this year, I cannot help but feel so blessed! I'm so thankful for the roof over our heads, for my amazing wonderful son, for my hard-working loving husband, and for the best friends and family I could have asked for! I hope you all have a wonderful time over the holidays!! I'll probably be posting some more entries and photos this month now that I have time :)

This is the Victoria train station after it had snowed. It only lasted two days thankfully!

It's that time of year....

I cannot believe I will be done school in just two weeks! Only 10 more days of classes :) I'm starting to get so stressed out and can't wait for this to all be over. I can't even think about Christmas right now. Papers, presentations, lesson plans, etc. Finish. Relax. Pull out the Christmas tree and turn up the music.

I went all the way down to island blue print today thinking I needed to buy 11X13 matte paper for my socials project. They only had 11X14 so I asked the clerk if he could use a cutting board to make it 11X13, which he did. I get home go over my checklist for the project and see that my prof had actually specified that our pictures be mounted to a 11X14 matte board!! I was so mad at myself! Now I have to go back again and try to find parking downtown, which is not always an easy task. Arg!! I can't believe I didn't pay better attention.

On a more exciting note, this Tuesday I get to go to the school I will be completing my practicum at. I'll be meeting the principal and my mentor teacher for the first time! And get this, my mentor teacher use to live in Eston, Sasketchewan and knew about me before I was even born! Apparently, she bought me a baby shower gift. It is a small world after all! I don't think she really knows about that part yet, since my last name has changed. I'm so excited!!! I might even get to meet my grade one class!! Which makes me nervous, but very excited.

Jack is crying so I guess my posts ends here. I thought he might be asleep for the night, but the wind is really loud!! Should be a fun night...Cuddle time with my boy :)

Two Honest Truths For Now...

1) I hate that I don't speak up enough! Every year when we have classroom discussions there are always those select individuals who always have something to say about pretty much everything! By the time the semester is over I feel like I already know them so well, even if we hardly say "hi" in the hallways. I know what they like, I know their personalities, and I know what disagree with. Yet I bet they would hardly know me at all. Sometimes I just feel like I have nothing profound to say so when the conversations arise I let the more outspoken opinionated people dominate the conversation. Instead of taking part in the classroom discussions I listen (a lot!), zone out, think about the coffee I will grab after class, look at my watch. I wish I had more of a voice, but for so many years I have not really used it to voice my opinion or objections.

2) I can't tell my left and right apart very easily. I think I may have a bit of dyslexia. When someone says turn left up ahead I have to consciously think about which way left is. I usually use my ring finger as a way of knowing which way to go. Makes it hard to give directions because I have to draw it out or have a mental picture of myself driving to remember if I needed to turn left or right to get to a particular place. It's something I always have to consciously think about. It never just comes to me without any thought.

Life in the fast lane

What a busy day! I still have that headache from this morning. It was a go go day. Woke up. Jack does not want to have a nap. Need shower, so Jack comes in the shower with me. Homework.

The off to the mall we went to do banking, get Shawn and Steph's wedding present. get Jack an outfit for the wedding. Buy Jack a new car seat (A nice Eddie Bauer one :), because his is getting to small for his infant seat. Did not get lunch till 2:00 and by that time my headache was fierce and I was so hungry! While picking up Jack's car seat he starts crying. I forgot his soother. More crying. Try feeding him in a chair at Toys R Us. Take him to the food court to give him some solids. Jack full on pukes (I think I over fed him). I realize I have no wet wipes to clean him up. I use a spare shirt to wipe him off.

Than I have to hurry off to school. Where I am 10 minutes late for class. Get back home and Jack and I had a little nap.

I'm tired and wanting to relax so that's all I'm going to write about for now...Looking forward to relaxing this weekend :)

My Brother Rocks My Socks!

Yesterday Ryan came over to my place and within a of couple minutes he made my computer look and work better. It was amazing! He sure has a talent for computers. This guy knows what he's doing. I was floored at how fast he was at fixing things! Jack also seems to really like Ryan too. He follows him around everywhere, much to his dismay lol.

I was so so excited because he put a program on my computer so I can start downloading music! Hooray! Now I just have to decide if I want an ipod or an mp3 player for Christmas. Which is better? ipods are the most popular by far, but they are so expensive (maybe a little too expensive). Are you just paying for the brand? MP3 players are cheaper and can be plugged into any computer, but you cannot download itunes on them...hmmm...I might have to go to a store and try them out to see which one I like more.

Today, I have a chiropractor appointment in the morning and then Ryan and I are going downtown to do some running around. This calls for Golden Chopsticks and a visit to the game store. Did I mention I'm on reading break right now? I'm loving this!

I'm also really looking forward to seeing Sarah and Colevin on Friday. Then I get to go upisland and see the rest of the family :) It's been awhile since we've all be together. Should be fun!

5 Honest Truths About Me

I've read a few other posts where people write 10 honest truths about themselves. I thought I might just give this a try, but I'll start with 5.

1) The one household chore I cannot stand is laundry! If I was to hire a maid for any job it to do it would be the laundry. I don't enjoy folding clothing one bit and will go to great lengths to avoid it! There is a corner in my bedroom that is stacked with folded clothes that I have not put away I'm sad to say.

2) I'm a huge Reba fan! I watch her shows all the time and I'm pretty sure I've seen them all. When I was younger my sister and I use to listen to her songs and dance on the bed with our teddy bears. I read her book when I was ten. Recently,I found out she is coming to Vancouver! How exciting, yet how can I afford a hotel, ferry ride, etc? I'm thinking of writing her a letter explaining that I'm a huge fan and think she really needs to come to the island because it's so beautiful here and she'd love it. What would it hurt to try? I better get working on it!

3)I often sneak over to my grandparents where we play an excessive amounts of crib and drink red tea. I'm there at least twice a week to pick up my little boy after my hour and half long class. I usually never leave without one quick game.

4)The first few weeks after we brought our little boy home I was paranoid that something bad would happen to him. Once I thought my husband had dropped him (which he had not), but the mere thought of it sent me into a frenzy of tears. Another time he coughed up a bit of blood and I completely lost it. I went hysterical and thought he was dying. I was so lucky to have my husband there. He got us calmly to the doctor where we were told that everything was fine.

5) I love the faint smell of cigarette smoke.

Mapwork

I'm working on a geography map project for my social studies class. I have to choose a significant location/neighbourhood and include a colour chip sampler (using photographs) for the area I'm mapping. Then I have to include a legend that uses some form of text to represent my connection to the place. I choose to write a cheesy poem :) Here is a glimpse into some of my project!

The Legend
Pleasant chirping falls upon my ears
Changing coloured leaves paint a picture of passing years
The cold autumn wind gently brushes across my face
Urging me to increase my pace
Children laughing; a man working in his yard
The black and white cat lurking in the bushes
I keep moving along the long brick path
Immersed in natures bright colourful bath.
